One of my least favorite tasks during the week is deciding what’s for dinner. Not being the most decisive or creative of individuals doesn’t help either. And don’t get me started on the times I do know exactly what I’d like to make, only to find I don’t have all the ingredients I need – of course this usually happens on those days when I’m feeling too tired (or lazy) to make that run to the shop; those days when I have really bad bed hair all day; or when I just don’t feel like putting on pants and going out in public. ?

I was recently asked if I’d like to try a dinner box from Daily Dish. Four nights of not having to worry about what to cook, plus no annoying “missing ingredients” trips to the shops? Um, YES PLEASE! ?
We know you want to eat delicious, freshly prepared food every day. When you don’t have the time to shop or pick a menu, we’d love to take care of it for you.
Daily Dish is South Africa’s first weekly meal kit delivery service, bringing convenience to busy moms since 2013. There are seven different dinner boxes, so there’s an option for just about everyone. I went with the Classic Box – chicken, beef, fish, pork, and a variety of vegetables made this the ideal choice for my family.
Once I let Diane know which box I wanted, I received an email confirming that I’d be receiving the Classic Box 4, and advising which items I’d need from my pantry. Olive oil, salt, freshly ground pepper, 4 eggs, and butter. That’s it, that’s all you need. Everything else is in the box. How great?
When the box arrived on Monday, the thing that really stood out was how fresh and beautiful the ingredients looked. The recipes are impressively presented too – each one on an A4 card, with a lovely photo of the dish at the bottom, giving you an idea of what you can expect once you’re done playing Masterchef that evening.
On the first night, I made Sriracha Chicken Noodles. All three of us loved this dish. Zee even asked for more – anyone with little kids will tell you this is always awesome (and doesn’t happen too often).
On Tuesday, I made Lebanese Kebabs instead of the Shakshuka, as I hadn’t yet bought the eggs. We enjoyed it, but not quite as much as the noodles from the night before.
And then it was Trout Shakshuka on Wednesday, and Country Mash-Up on Thursday. Both dishes were approved by Zee, with the only criticism (from all of us) being that the Shakshuka was too salty. I should’ve realized the feta would cause the dish to become quite salty, so adding a pinch of salt to the elements as I prepared them was probably not the smartest move.
The winner for our family was the Sriracha Chicken Noodles. What an absolutely delicious dish! Although, everyone trying out the fresh, wholesome, yummy, super convenient dinner boxes from Daily Dish is a winner. And get this – they have Wine Boxes too!
Final verdict
Daily Dish is an excellent service, and definitely worth a try.
