Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Lotion & Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths

I’ve been using these Cetaphil products for just over a month now, so I thought I’d share my thoughts on them.

What the product claims to do

Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Lotion is the ideal choice for:

• All skin types, all ages, all seasons
• Sensitive skin
• Removing eye make-up
• Contact lens wearers
• Fragrance-free
• Unlike soap, your skin will not be left feeling dry and tight.

My opinion on the product

The first few times I used it, I kept washing and washing, waiting for it to form a lather. I hadn’t used a non-foaming face cleanser before, so it felt a bit strange to me. Then I remembered I’d read on the bottle that it would not lather like soap, and proceeded to stop scrubbing the skin off my face. Of course, being a sufferer of “mom brain” meant I forgot this the next few times, and repeated the relentless face washing process. Now that I’m used to it though, I quite enjoy the soft, foam-less (actually this part I’m still not quite used to), texture of the cleanser.

Something I’m especially impressed with is how clean it leaves my skin. I wasn’t convinced at first… I mean would this lotion-like cleanser actually clean my skin properly? One look at the still very clean cotton pad I use to tone my face and neck after, and I changed my tune.

I also decided to test their claim that “your skin will not be left feeling dry and tight.” Being a stay at home mom, I could afford to take this test to the next level. After washing my face with the cleanser one morning, I didn’t tone and moisturise as usual. I wanted to see just how non-drying/non-tightening the product was, so I carried on my day without applying anything else to my skin (like I said, next level stuff here.. Lol). Zee and I got started with school, and before I knew it, the day was pretty much over, and I was still moisturizer free. Surprisingly, my skin actually didn’t feel much different from when I actually have moisturized. And this was on one of the freakishly cold days we’ve had recently! Nice work Cetaphil. 🙂

Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths – for sensitive skin (25 pack, R140 – Clicks)

Product claims

• Convenient, pre-moistened – perfect for when you’re on the go
• Ultra soft and gentle
• Thoroughly removes makeup and dirt, leaving skin clean, refreshed and balanced
• Mild, soap-free formula cleanses without irritation- it won’t strip skin of its natural protective oils or emollients
• Moisturizes without leaving residue that can clog pores
• Fragrance-free and ophthalmologist tested

My opinion

Cetaphil can make these claims confidently, because in my opinion, all of them are true. I’m not much of a fan of facial wipes, as some have irritated my skin, one even stung a little. I found these wipes however to be just as gentle and moisturizing as the cleansing lotion. They felt soft and mild on my skin. I even used them to remove eye makeup, and it did the job. Well.

Also, convenience. They’re perfect on late nights, when all you can handle is minimal effort in cleaning your face. I also threw them into my handbag when we were away for one of the recent long weekends, and they kept both my face and hands fresh.

Both products surprised and impressed me – a “lotion” which cleans amazingly, and facial wipes which don’t irritate, and actually moisturize. On my next toiletry run, I’m probably more likely to buy the cleansing cloths, purely because I’m super happy to have finally found facial wipes which work for me.
