Disney’s Baymax! to debut on Disney+

Disney’s Baymax – our favourite healthcare companion robot – will soon be headlining his very own show on Disney+ and I’m pretty sure I’m more excited about this than any child could ever be! 😁

Baymax has been one of the most beloved Disney characters in our home since the Oscar winning film “Big Hero 6” premiered in 2014. The inflatable medical assistant – and part time superhero – quickly crept into our hearts with his adorable fist bump and the hilarious way he speaks and behaves when his battery is low… “hairy baby!” (those who know, know). And let’s not even start with his ultimate hero moment at the end of the film. Something in my eye, every single time.

”Baymax!” will stream exclusively on Disney+ on June 29. The all new series will transport fans back to the fantastical city of San Fransokyo, where our lovable big hero sets out to do what he was programmed to do: help others.

I thought it would be fun to do a Disney+ series with Baymax interacting with normal folks. In each of our six episodes, Baymax just wants to help someone – and a lot of times they don’t want to be helped. He sets out to fix a physical issue that he’s identified, and in the process, gets to a deeper, more emotional place and can be almost transformative in that role.

“Baymax!” is produced by Roy Conli and Bradford Simonsen. Episodes are directed by Dean Wellins (episodes 1, 2, 6), Lissa Treiman (episode 3), Dan Abraham (episode 4) and Mark Kennedy (episode 5). The screenwriter is Cirocco Dunlap. Scott Adsit returns as the voice of Baymax. Voice talent featured in the episodes include Ryan Potter (Hiro), Maya Rudolph (aunt Cass), Emily Kuroda, Lilimar, Zeno Robinson and Jaboukie Young-White.
