Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Lotion & Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths

I’ve been using these Cetaphil products for just over a month now, so I thought I’d share my thoughts on them.

Cetaphil

~Please note that these products were sent to me to try, but all thoughts in this post are my own.~

Gentle Cleansing Lotion (400ml, R245 – Clicks)

What the product claims to do

Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Lotion is the ideal choice for:

• All skin types, all ages, all seasons
• Sensitive skin
• Removing eye make-up
• Contact lens wearers
• Fragrance-free
• Unlike soap, your skin will not be left feeling dry and tight.

My opinion on the product

The first few times I used it, I kept washing and washing, waiting for it to form a lather. I hadn’t used a non-foaming face cleanser before, so it felt a bit strange to me. Then I remembered I’d read on the bottle that it would not lather like soap, and proceeded to stop scrubbing the skin off my face. Of course, being a sufferer of “mom brain” meant I forgot this the next few times, and repeated the relentless face washing process. Now that I’m used to it though, I quite enjoy the soft, foam-less (actually this part I’m still not quite used to), texture of the cleanser.

Something I’m especially impressed with is how clean it leaves my skin. I wasn’t convinced at first… I mean would this lotion-like cleanser actually clean my skin properly? One look at the still very clean cotton pad I use to tone my face and neck after, and I changed my tune.

I also decided to test their claim that “your skin will not be left feeling dry and tight.” Being a stay at home mom, I could afford to take this test to the next level. After washing my face with the cleanser one morning, I didn’t tone and moisturise as usual. I wanted to see just how non-drying/non-tightening the product was, so I carried on my day without applying anything else to my skin (like I said, next level stuff here.. Lol). Zee and I got started with school, and before I knew it, the day was pretty much over, and I was still moisturizer free. Surprisingly, my skin actually didn’t feel much different from when I actually have moisturized. And this was on one of the freakishly cold days we’ve had recently! Nice work Cetaphil. 🙂

Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths – for sensitive skin (25 pack, R140 – Clicks)

Product claims

• Convenient, pre-moistened – perfect for when you’re on the go
• Ultra soft and gentle
• Thoroughly removes makeup and dirt, leaving skin clean, refreshed and balanced
• Mild, soap-free formula cleanses without irritation- it won’t strip skin of its natural protective oils or emollients
• Moisturizes without leaving residue that can clog pores
• Fragrance-free and ophthalmologist tested

My opinion

Cetaphil can make these claims confidently, because in my opinion, all of them are true. I’m not much of a fan of facial wipes, as some have irritated my skin, one even stung a little. I found these wipes however to be just as gentle and moisturizing as the cleansing lotion. They felt soft and mild on my skin. I even used them to remove eye makeup, and it did the job. Well.

Also, convenience. They’re perfect on late nights, when all you can handle is minimal effort in cleaning your face. I also threw them into my handbag when we were away for one of the recent long weekends, and they kept both my face and hands fresh.

Both products surprised and impressed me – a “lotion” which cleans amazingly, and facial wipes which don’t irritate, and actually moisturize. On my next toiletries run, I’m probably more likely to buy the cleansing cloths, purely because I’m super happy to have finally found wipes which work for me.

Zeeview | Sanex Dermo Kids

Zeeview - Sanex

Today Zee is letting us know what she thinks of this beauty. No, not the Panda & Frost mermaid – she’s gorgeous, but that’s for another post. 🙂 Today, we’re talking about Sanex Dermo Kids Bodywash & Foam Bath.

This is what Sanex claims about the product:

Specially developed for children and approved by paediatricians, this hypoallergenic bodywash and foam bath has been formulated to gently clean without drying your child’s delicate skin. Suitable for head to toe wash.

Here are Zee’s thoughts on the product:

1. What do you think of the bottle?

I like how kids is written on the bottle in bright colours. It makes the bottle look really pretty.

2. How does it smell?

It smells like candy. It really does. Mmmm…

3. How does it feel on your skin?

It feels so gentle, and soft, and lovely on my skin.

4. How does your skin feel after bath time?

When I touch my skin it feels really soft and smooth. I feel refreshed and super clean!

5. Would you like to tell your friends about this body wash?

Yes I would. And I’d tell them because after my bath I feel so fresh and I think maybe they would like to feel fresh too. And I think they would love how sweet it smells.

6. Would you like mommy to buy this for you again?

YES!!!

7. How many smiley faces do you give Sanex Dermo Kids Bodywash & Foam Bath?

Ten thousand and two. 😀😂

8. Okay, but out of five, how many smiley faces would you give it?

Five out of five!

So there you have it moms, one Zee-approved kids bodywash/foam bath you definitely want to get your hands on next time you’re out toiletries shopping.

Mom verdict: I’m really happy with this product. Only a very small amount of the bodywash is required to get my little person super clean, as she put it. It’s gentle on her skin, forms a lovely lather, and smells amazing (I actually love the scent). I’ll be heading out for more.

Zeeview | Johnson’s Baby Gentle Protect Bath

We were in Dischem recently, with Zee happily pulling the little wheeled basket around, and daddy close by reminding her to be alert and not run over anyone’s toes. We were in the baby aisle, and I think it was the first time I noticed that the only other moms and dads there were those with tiny crying or sleeping babies.

I’m not sure what the “correct” age to move your little one over to adult/family body wash/soap/lotion/shampoo is. I mean, up until a few months ago I still used Johnson’s top-to-toe as her body wash – that’s what they used at the hospital for her first bath… ok so I got a little attached to that one, but I figure if it gets her all clean and fresh, and doesn’t irritate that delicate skin, it’s a keeper.

I know Zee has grown. I see proof of this in her height, her intelligence, her sense of humour so much like my own. In so many ways though, she’s still so baby. The way she still loves curling up on me for cuddles at random times, how she wraps herself around daddy’s leg and asks him to stay home and not go to work (he has to walk like this all the way to the door). Maybe that’s why I try holding on to the babyness in all kinds of ways, even in my vehement refusal to say goodbye to the baby aisle.

I have made progress though. No, really. Just look at the product Zee is reviewing today. I know it says Baby on the front, but at back it describes it as being a wash for toddlers. See, progress. 😉

Here’s what Johnson’s says about their product:

Washes away up to 99.9% of dirt and germs while being mild on your toddler’s delicate skin.

We love toddlers. We also understand that as they start to explore the world around them, you’ll want to keep them clean and protected from dirt and germs.

NEW JOHNSON’S® Gentle Protect™ Bath is specially developed to effectively wash away dirt and germs, while being gentle to your toddler’s delicate skin. Our unique No More Tears® formula is enriched with a combination of natural ingredients including honey and extracts of rooibos & green tea.

Ideal for everyday use, Hypoallergenic (formulated to minimise the risk of allergy) and Soap free.

What Zee said:

What do you think of the bottle?

I like the print on the bottle, because it’s a honeycomb (I didn’t even know she would identify what it is), and I like the shade of blue because it matches my Donald Duck bath toy!

How does it smell?

It smells like honey and flowers. I love the smell!

How does it feel on  your skin?

It feels soothing (seriously, where do the words come from?) and soft, like flowers gently tickling my skin, you know like when I pick a flower and tickle you with it.

How does your skin feel after bathtime?

My skin feels moisturised and soft. Ooh, and I smell nice! (Sniffing her forearm to see if she still smells like honey)

Would you like to tell your friends about your new honey body wash?

Yes I will. You know who’ll like it? B from ballet. I’m going  to tell her. Oh, and K too. Actually I’ll just tell aunt J because K’s still a baby.

So Johnson’s Baby Gentle Protect Bath gets a big smiley face from Zee. 😀

Mom verdict: I’m not crazy about the honey sweet smell, but I’m not the one being bathed in it, so that really isn’t an issue. I am impressed with the lovely lather you get from squeezing just a little of the wash onto her facecloth. It leaves my little person squeaky clean, whilst being kind to her skin, so a smiley face from me too.

You can find it at Dischem and Clicks, retails between R64 and R67 for the 500ml bottle.
